INTRODUCTION

Micro Seven model CD31, Telephone-Remote Controller utilizes DTMF data input to control output circuits at remote location after CD31 answers with off-hook condition after detecting ring signal. It controls one of four outputs circuits, relay circuit with normally open and normally closed terminals and three open-collector NPN transistor circuits. Screw terminals are provided for telephone line, power, and output circuits. A popular audio connector is provided to monitor audio on incoming telephone line at an external audio amplifier. Four digit-long passwords or PIN are programmable for fifty users or employee. Each user/employee may be authorized any output among four output circuits. Output on/off duration is also programmable Typical sequence of operation is to call a telephone number that is assigned to CD31. CD31 answers with unique prompt tone. Enter 2-digit user/employee code with # as a delimiter. OK tone is generated, Enter 4-digit password/PIN with # as a delimiter. OK tone is generated. Enter 1 digit output code with # as a delimiter. Then the selected output circuit is turned on or off depending on programming. Then the confirmation tone is generated.

SPECIFICATIONS

User/employee code:

The user/employee code is 2-digit number between 00 and 49. There are maximum fifty user/employee for CD31. The delimiter # needs to be entered between user/employee code and PIN.

Connectors “A” group: (located on the left side of CD31 looking on the top label)

1.      +12V input and common (two screw terminals)

2.      Telephone line inputs (two screw terminals)

3.      3.5 mm audio connector (for monitoring audio on telephone line), source resistance 10k ohm, signal level between –12 and 5 dBm.

Connectors “B” group: (located on the left side of CD31 looking on the top label)

  1. Common ( two screw terminals)
  2. open-collector output #1 (one screw terminal)
  3. open-collector output #2 (one screw terminal)
  4. open-collector output #3 (one screw terminal)
  5. Relay output, normally open (one screw terminal)
  6. Relay output, normally closed (one screw terminal)
  7. Relay common (one screw terminal)

Current and voltage capability of output circuits:

1.      main relay output, a dry normally-open and normally-closed relay contacts with 1A maximum, 250VAC/220VDC. The output code is “0”.

2.      open-collector output #1, NPN transistor, 2N2222 type, 30VDC maximum, 100mA maximum continuous current capability. The output code is “1”.

3.      open-collector output #2, specification same as #1. The output code is “2”.

4.      open-collector output #3, specification same as #1. The output code is “3”.

DTMF entry procedure in DTMF mode:

Entry 2-digit user/employee code and “#”, and enter 4-digit password/PIN and “#” and follows with output code with “#”. For example, for user/employee=”12”, PIN=”1234”, DTNF entry is “ 12#1234#” followed with “0#” for output relay operation, “1#” for open-collector output #1, “2#” for open-collector output #2, or “3#” for open-collector output #3. Note that there is OK tone or confirmation tone is generated by CD31 after receiving code and #. For example, the above sequence may be produced as 12# (OK tone) 1234# (OK tone) and 0# (Confirmation tone).

Output duration:

Output duration for each output circuit is programmable for either toggle (on or off) or between one second minimum and two hundred fifty-five second maximum.

LED displays:

The following LED displays are provided to show each status of the following:

1.      Loop current/ringing indicator

2.      Power indicator

3.      open-collector output #1 is turned on.

4.      open-collector output #2 is turned on.

5.      open-collector output #3 is turned on.

6.      relay output is turned on indicating normally-opened terminal is shorted to relay common terminal, and normally-closed terminal is open to the relay common terminal.

Tones that are provided by CD31:

1. Password request tone (PRT), three consecutive 1400Hz tone for short duration.

The PRT tone is produced at the beginning of DTMF entries or after erroneous entry.

2. OK tone, which consists of 1400Hz frequency component for a short duration, is produced after a valid user/employee code or PIN entry and “#”.

3. Confirmation tone consisting of 1400 and 2300 Hz, which is produced after a successful output operation with valid PIN and output code entries. OK tone is produced twice when an output is turned off when the output circuit is set for a toggle mode.

Programming of user/employee code, password/PIN, and output code:

In addition of the programming of user/employee code, password/PIN, and output code, the following programming is available:

1.      Number of ringing period before CD31 answers for DTMF mode

2.      DTMF timeout during DTMF entry

3.      maximum number of entry errors

Reset switch:

2-pin header is provided on the printed circuit board to reset all programmed parameters including PIN, and output code to the factory default condition.

DC input requirement: 12VDC unregulated, 100mA maximum either from power connector or from terminal blocks
